Manufacturing processes of pharmaceutical and nutraceutical products are very complex and must respect very restrictive operating conditions. Active molecules, extracted from natural sources, can easily be altered. evapeos® technology is the ideal vector for proteins, vitamins, antioxidants and more. Antibodies have already been concentrated 5x in less than 1/10th of the time taken by lyophilization, using only 2% of the energy.

evapeos technology operates at low temperature and pressure which ensures the stability of sensitive substances. Products in aqueous solutions can be highly concentrated and solvents can be easily removed without any direct contact with chemicals. Our components have already been FDA validated for several applications in this industry (from ultrapure water production to the concentration of metabolites in fermentation broths) so introduction of the technology should be easy to execute.

 

Case study: Antioxidants from melon

 

Many active molecules used in cosmetic products can be extracted from fruit. Melon, for example, contains antioxidants. These thermo-sensitive molecules can be denatured when concentration is performed at high temperature using thermal evaporation. evapeos technology not only allows higher concentration to be achieved, but also preserves antioxidants, since no heat is applied during the process.

evapeos efficiency, compared to thermal evaporation, was evaluated using the established ORAC method (antioxidant power measurement) as shown in the chart on the left. evapeos concentration provides 2.3 times more antioxidants.

 

New, premium products are within the reach of all users of the technology. A single evapeos system can be used to process a wide variety of active ingredients. Products already shown to have proven benefits from concentration with evapeos technology include vegetable extracts, algae, fermentation products, fruit juices and dairy products.
